Junior Timeline


  • Explore interests in subjects, colleges, and careers
  • Consider career options and investigate the type of education that is needed
  • Take the ASVAB exam (available to all Milaca Juniors- required for military entrance)
  • Attend Central MN Education Fair
  • Take the PSAT exam (recommended to students in top 1/3 of class)
  • Collect and organize college brochures, view books, and program information
  • Attend meetings with college and/or military representatives in the Student Services Office (see link on left)
  • Check out the MCIS website  for college and career information


  • Check ACT and SAT registration deadlines
  • Investigate requirements for admission to colleges that you are interested in
  • Register for senior year classes and check graduation requirements for high school
  • Consider job shadowing in your career area of interest


  • Make contact with colleges to schedule summer visits
  • Take ACT (April and/or June) and/or SAT (the ACT will be offered at Milaca High School in the Spring)
  • Line up summer job to save money for college
  • Continue to narrow down college selections


  • Visit at least two or three colleges to make comparisons
  • Get reference letters from summer jobs or special activities
