Why Blended Learning Day?

To continue student learning through school cancellations, Milaca Public Schools will pilot a Blended Learning Day during the 2019-2020 school year, effective only on the second school day cancellation. During a Blended Learning Day, students and licensed staff will have expectations to meet.

1st Cancellation Day: Traditional “Snow Day”

  • No student make-up day will happen. Teachers will make-up this day at the end of the school year

2nd Cancellation Day: Blended Learning Day

3rd Cancellation Day: Students and staff will make-up this day up on April 13th, if the closing occurs early enough in the school year

4th Cancellation Day: No student make-up

5th Cancellation Day: No student make-up

6th Cancellation Day and Beyond: These days will be made up by students and staff after Memorial Day

Student Expectations:

In the event of a second canceled school day, families will be informed by an automated message that Milaca Public Schools is enacting a Blended Learning Day. Students in grades K-6 will access and complete a series of pre-assigned learning activities. These activities and details will be provided to families at Fall conferences. Students in grades 7-12 will access assignments via teacher’s websites and/or email by 8:00 a.m. on the Blended Learning Day. Licensed staff members will be available periodically throughout the day (8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) to answer questions and provide guidance via email. All Blending Learning Day assignments will be due one week after the Blended Learning Day. Accommodations for students that receive special education services will be provided. If additional accommodations are needed, they can be addressed by teaching staff when the student returns to school.
