Update: October 9, 2020

Good afternoon,

This week’s transition to hybrid for Milaca High School went smoothly thanks to the flexibility, patience, and kindness of our students, teachers, staff, and families. Your support is appreciated.

I am sharing the health data for Mille Lacs County. This data is updated weekly and can be found at https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/index.html

# of cases per 10,000 / 14 days*

8/30 - 9/12

9/6 - 9/19

9/13 - 9/26

Mille Lacs County

12.44

10.88

14.77

*This data is based on the date the specimen was collected (when the person tested positive).

Milaca Public Schools continues to follow the learning model guidance provided by MDE/MDH that is based on the 14-day case range:

Learning Model

Range
(14-day case rate per 10,000 people)

In-person learning for all students

0 to less than 10

Elementary in-person, Middle/high school hybrid

10 to less than 20

Both hybrid

20 to less than 30

Elementary hybrid, Middle/high school distance

30 to less than 50

Both distance

50 or more

In addition, the following factors contribute to the learning model decision:

  • Cases at Milaca Schools

    • Current cases: 2

  • MDH/County case numbers

    • Released weekly on Thursday at 11:00 a.m

  • Projected county cases

  • Guidance from county public health and Regional Support Team

As you know, Milaca High School will remain in the hybrid learning model at least through October and will then be re-evaluated. At this time, Milaca Elementary will continue with in-person learning and we will continue to monitor the data trends.

Be well, stay well.
