Senior Timeline

September

• Check ACT and SAT registration deadlines
• Select the colleges to which you will apply.  Make a list of deadlines and early incentives for each school.
• Apply to technical programs
• Attend meetings with college and/or military representatives in Student Services Office (see link on left)
• Check out the MCIS website for college and career information
• Make sure that you have earned/are earning the credits needed for graduation

October

• Watch for scholarship applications in the Student Services Office and check deadlines
• Attend the Minnesota National College Fair
• MEA Break- schedule college visits during the break (it's okay to visit more than once)
• Make sure you have taken or are registered for the ACT or SAT
• Apply to colleges that interest you
• Ask for recommendation letters two weeks before the deadline
• The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) becomes available October 1st

November-December

• Check college application deadlines and finalize plans
• Attend the Financial Aid FAFSA Completion Workshop and complete your FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov)
• Apply for scholarships

January-February

• Watch for scholarship applications (see link on left)
• Make sure credits are on track for graduation

March-May

• Review college acceptances and make final decision, reply promptly to colleges
• Watch for local scholarship deadlines (see link on left)
• Request a FINAL TRANSCRIPT be sent to your college
